Fostering Tolerance

Fostering Tolerance

Our flagship leadership programme, Lead and Be Led, has developed hundreds of young people, empowering to make real changes to their lives and communities.

What is Lead and be Led

ATM believes that every young person is a born leader. With the right support, encouragement, tools, and opportunities, a young person can be confident enough to speak up, make changes, and pursue their aspirations despite social and economic barriers.

The ‘Lead and Be Led’ project focuses on the core skills and attributes needed in today’s society, emphasising social and emotional competencies, including self-awareness, collaboration, empathy, relationship-building, and the ability to lead through authenticity rather than authority.

We believe that this will ensure that the young participants access the opportunities to improve their lives. Our mission is to improve life chances and create fairer communities, steering young people away from divisive ideals.

The Lead and Be Led program take place throughout the year with young people aged 16-24. Our participants take part in exclusive face-to-face and/or online training to hone their ability to manage projects, contribute to public debates, build ideas and relationships, and gain employment. As well as the skills needed for employment, taking part in the course increases their network and access to opportunities.

Ultimately it gives them everything they need to become a better leader.

This project supports young people by providing the following models:

A leadership toolkit to aid young people once they complete the workshops.

1-to-1 mentoring and youth support.

CV and cover letter training.

Access to exclusive opportunities and training (employment, volunteering, and internships).

Campaign and project management development.

Specialised skills support.

Community engagement support.

Skills to bridge the gap between young people and stakeholders.
